Lima Will Host the International Symposium of Mining Slopes
This specialized global event will be held from October 26 to 29, 2026, bringing together professionals, educators, researchers, and scientists worldwide to generate a forum for discussing best practices related to open pit slope stability in the mining industry.

Lima, April 09, 2025. The Slope Stability Symposium 2026 will be held for the first time in Peru. This international symposium will take place from October 26 to 29, 2026, at the Lima Convention Center, in the district of San Borja. It is organized by the Large Open Pit Project (LOP) and supported, in Peru, by the Peruvian Society of Geoengineering and the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP).
After recognizing its world-class mining tradition and its benefits as a cultural and culinary destination, Peru was designated as the venue for Slope Stability 2026, the most important international event related to the stability of open-pit slopes in the mining industry.
The tenth edition of the event will bring together professionals, educators, researchers, and scientists from all over the world to generate a forum for discussion, knowledge sharing, business networking, and dissemination of best engineering practices for various geotechnical, hydrogeological, structural, and blast control issues related to open-pit excavation stability in the mining industry.
The program will include keynote presentations, technical sessions, short courses, and field visits to mining companies in Peru. This mining conference takes place every two years, and the last edition was held in Brazil in 2024. Previous editions were held in the United States, Australia, Spain, South Africa, Chile, and Canada.
