Lima, October 1, 2025.- Pedro Isique, member of the SS 2026 committee, stated that the Geological Society of Peru (SGP, by its initials in Spanish) signed an alliance with the International Slope Stability 2026 Symposium to contribute to the training of new generations of geoscientists, promoting their international projection and strengthening Peru's role in the global geosciences community.

Within the framework of the Semana de la Geología Nacional (Peruvian Geology Week 2025), Slope Stability joined as a strategic ally of the III National Mineralogy and Petrology Contest (CONAMIPE 2025, for its Spanish acronym). This competition brings together students from 12 universities in the country where the Geological Engineering degree is taught.

In this edition, Slope Stability 2026 will award the competition winner a full scholarship to participate in the World Congress of Geotechnology and Hydrogeology, one of the most prestigious international events, which will be held for the first time in Peru.

"I am proud to be able to contribute to expanding the knowledge of the participants. We wish them every success, and we trust that it will be a great experience to strengthen their commitment to geosciences. It is also a pleasure to announce the realization of SS 2026 next year in Lima, Peru, an event that will bring together young students, geotechnicians, researchers, educators, scientists, and other professionals from the mining industry from all over the world," said Pedro Isique, who is also a representative of the Geological Society of Peru (SGP).

The tenth edition of the event aims to create a forum for discussion, knowledge exchange, networking, and the dissemination of engineering best practices related to various geotechnical, hydrogeological, structural, and blast control issues affecting the stability of open-pit excavations in the mining industry.

The program, which takes place every two years, will include keynote presentations, technical sessions, short courses, and field visits to mining companies in Peru.
