Slope Stability 2026: The Deadline for The Submission of Abstracts for Technical Papers Is July 15.

Lima, July 01, 2025. Tuesday, July 15, is the deadline for submitting abstracts of technical papers within the framework of the international congress Slope Stability 2026 (SS2026), as informed by the Organizing Committee.

The International Slope Stability Congress is one of the world's major events on mine slope stability.  The event is organized by the Large Open Pit Project (LOP) and supported by the Peruvian Society of Geoengineering and the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP).

The selected technical papers will be included in the Slope Stability 2026 Proceedings book. They can be presented orally and through posters at the event, which will bring together young students, geotechnicians, researchers, educators, scientists, and other mining industry professionals from around the world.

For the first time, it will be held at the Lima Convention Center in San Borja, Lima, Peru, from October 26 to 29, 2026.

Rules

Claudio Tejada, co-president of the Organizing Committee, explained that abstracts must be submitted in English only. If an abstract is accepted, authors will be required to provide a draft and a final version of their paper. Also, participants will present their abstracts in person, either orally or in a poster. The Organizing Committee will determine this.

“Abstracts mark the initial stage of the process of submitting technical papers. These should contain relevant information such as description, implementation, results, conclusions, and technical contributions. Slope Stability is a great opportunity to network with world-class experts if the technical paper is selected. In this way, we seek to strengthen the connection between academia and the mining industry," he said.

Abstracts and subsequent technical papers should be sent via email to programslopestability2026@speg.org.pe. For more information about the event, registration, and opportunities for participation and business engagement, please visit the official website  https://www.slopestability2026.com/.

The webinar was given by Marisol Valerio, senior Rock Mechanics Engineer at WSP, and Gina Pachao, director of the Women Geotechnicians Committee, structural geotechnician Senior at Southern Perú Copper Corporation. Professionals from Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Ecuador, the United States of America, Mexico, Panama, and the Dominican Republic attended the webinar.
