Slope Stability 2026 Receives More Than 600 Technical Abstracts from Researchers Worldwide

Lima, November 10, 2025.- The Organizing Committee of the International Symposium on Slope Stability 2026 (SS2026) announced that more than 600 technical paper abstracts have been submitted by professionals and researchers from five continents, as part of the call for one of the world’s most important events on slope stability in mining.

SS2026 is organized by the Large Open Pit Project (LOP), in collaboration with the Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru (IIMP) and the Peruvian Society of Geoengineering, ISRM National Group. The event will take place from October 26 to 29 next year at the Lima Convention Center, in the district of San Borja, and will bring together professionals, specialists, researchers, consultants, specialized companies, and mining industry leaders involved in slope stability worldwide.

Submitted Papers

“The number of papers received demonstrates the global interest in sharing experiences and innovative solutions for ground control and slope stability management. Slope Stability will be a major international showcase that connects top-level experts and strengthens ties between academic research and mining practice,” emphasized Luis Tejada Cervantes, Chair of the SS2026 Organizing Committee.

According to preliminary statistics, around 30% of the abstracts were submitted by women, reflecting a growing participation of women in the various fields related to slope stability in mining.

The technical abstracts cover key topics such as geotechnical design, slope monitoring, numerical modeling, geotechnical risk management, blasting, hydrogeology, case studies, and disruptive technologies using artificial intelligence. Submissions came from more than 30 countries, with strong representation from Peru, Brazil, Canada, Chile, the United States, and Australia.

The Organizing Committee expressed its gratitude for the broad response from the technical community and announced that selected authors will be notified according to the established schedule. The winning papers will be included in the Proceedings of Slope Stability 2026 and may be presented orally or through posters at the event, which will bring together young students, geotechnical engineers, researchers, educators, and other mining industry professionals from around the world.

Registration Open

Luis C. Tejada Alvarez, Co-Chair of the SS2026 Organizing Committee, thanked the overwhelming response and support from professionals and researchers working in slope stability in mining. He also urged the technical and scientific community, as well as specialized companies, to register for the event in advance.

“The international symposium will be a fully in-person event with no online participation option; therefore, I invite you to register, as a little more than 50% of the spaces are already taken”, he stated.
