In the context of International Women's Day, prominent leaders in the sector will analyze the challenges, progress, and opportunities to strengthen female leadership in mining.

Slope Stability 2026 organizes a discussion titled “Mining with Purpose: The Role of Female Talent”

Lima, March 2, 2026. - As part of the activities of the International Slope Stability Symposium 2026 within the framework of the commemoration of International Women's Day, the virtual discussion "Mining with purpose: the role of female talent" will be held, a space for reflection and dialogue that will put on the agenda the challenges, advances and opportunities to strengthen the participation of women in the mining industry.

The event will take place on Friday, March 6th at 4:00 p.m. and will be moderated by Cinthya Pérez. The session will bring together prominent professionals from the sector, including Gina Pachao (SPCC, Peru), director of the Women in Geotechnical Engineering Program, who will deliver the opening remarks; and Dr. Salomé Chacón Arcaya, director of the Postgraduate Unit, who will address the current realities and challenges for women in mining.

Verónica Gil Padilla, Chief Geotechnical Engineer at Minera Penmont (Sonora, Mexico), will also share her international experience and analyze the main challenges and opportunities for the future. The panel will also include Diana Cámara, a member of the Women Geotechnical Engineers Committee and Director of Administration for the Slope Stability Organizing Committee.

The discussion aims to highlight the impact of female leadership in strategic areas such as geotechnics, people management, safety and mining operations, emphasizing the value of diverse talent for a more innovative, sustainable and competitive mining industry.

This discussion is geared towards professionals in the mining and energy sectors, social management leaders, geotechnical specialists, human resources and sustainability experts, as well as students and young professionals interested in promoting a more diverse, inclusive, and purpose-driven mining industry.
