Slope Stability 2026: October 30 Is the Deadline for Submitting Abstracts of Technical Papers

Lima, October 07, 2025. The Organizing Committee announced that Thursday, October 30, is the deadline for submitting abstracts of technical papers for the Slope Stability 2026 (SS2026) Symposium.

Slope Stability 2026, one of the world’s leading events on mine slopes, is organized by the Large Open Pit Project (LOP) and supported in Peru by the Peruvian Society of Geoengineering and the Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers (IIMP).

The rules

The top papers will be included in the Slope Stability 2026 Proceedings book. They may be presented either orally or through posters at the event, which will gather young students, geotechnical engineers, researchers, educators, scientists, and other professionals from the mining industry worldwide. The event will take place for the first time in Peru from October 26 to 29, 2026, at the Lima Convention Center in the San Borja district.

Luis Tejada Cervantes, president of the Lima SS2026 Organizing Committee, stressed that the submission of these documents must be made only in English. If an abstract is accepted, authors will be required to provide a draft and a final version of their paper. Subsequently, the authors will present their abstracts in person, either orally (in PowerPoint format) or as a poster, to be determined by the Organizing Committee.

“Abstracts mark the initial stage of the technical paper submission process. They must contain appropriate information such as description, application, results, conclusions, and technical contributions. Slope Stability is a great opportunity to connect with world-class experts and present technical work if selected. In this way, we seek to strengthen the connection between academia and the mining industry,” said the geotechnical engineer.

Call for participation

Claudio Tejada Arata, co-president of the event, invited young professionals in the field of geotechnics to participate, stating that the aim is to strengthen the connection between academia and the mining industry.

“We hope to bring together young students, geotechnical engineers, researchers, educators, scientists, and other professionals from the global mining industry from Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Ecuador, the United States, Mexico, Panama, and the Dominican Republic” he concluded.

Abstracts and later technical papers should be sent via email to programslopestability2026@speg.org.pe. For more information on the event, registration, participation, and business opportunities, please visit the official website  https://www.slopestability2026.com/
